Feb 22 an evening of Ash Wednesday celebration and blues at Memorical chapel.
We will mark the beginning of Lent with an Ash Blues Worship service at 6:00. All the music, and some of the message will come through the soulful sound of blues! Our special guest musicians will include the legendary Phil Wiggins (world reknown harmonica player) and the Rev. Kim Capps (our Chaplain) who is frequently invited to do blues worship services in Maryland, DC and West VA.
It all starts at 5:15 with free dinner, than you stay for an Ash Blues worship, followed by FREE Blues Concert.
The service will be followed by a free acoustic blues concert by Phil Wiggins and Mark Puryear. Come for one or both, but you won't want to miss this!!

Where does the Wesley Foundation gather for worship?
We offer two different options for Worship each week: At Memorial Chapel on campus on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm and on Sunday at 11:00am, at University United Methodist Church on Campus Drive (just across from Tawes and Lot 1, see map). In addition we’re happy to connect you with other United Methodist Churches in the area.
Wednesday Worship, is at 6:00pm, following our weekly Wednesday Dinner, and all of this takes place on campus at Memorial Chapel. The service will be non-traditional in style, with a variety of music led by Wes Hunter and Harmony’s Cross, our student singing group. So we hope you’ll join with us as we reflect on Scripture, sing, and reflect on what it means to live lives of faith on-campus and in the world. The service will run less than an hour and be followed by desert. If you’re interested in getting involved in music or worship, please contact umc@umd.edu
Wednesday night Sermon series (Feb 1-22)--- “Mythbusters: Christian or Cliché?” We invite you to examine our religious rhetoric. Do the words we say in times of difficulty help or hurt? Are they based in scripture? We will look at sayings like “Everything happens for a reason,” and “God never gives us more than we can handle,” in the light of scripture and faith tradition. All are welcome!
Sunday Worship at University United Methodist Church is at 11:00am (beginning Sept. 4th) and is traditional in style. Look for students in the middle to the front of the pews on the right side as you enter the sanctuary. Each Sunday following worship, there will be a casual lunch afterwards. For more info on UUMC, go to http://www.UUMCP.org
There are also a couple of other United Methodist Churches within a few miles of campus. They are:
First United Methodist Church in Hyattsville http://www.fumchy.org/
College Park United Methodist http://www.gbgm-umc.org/collegepark/
What kind of Bible study does the Wesley Foundation have?
If you've never even picked up a Bible in your life, don't worry. There are no quizzes! Come and join us for a practical, open, and faith-based discussion, led by your fellow students. Since we are a group with members of different faith backgrounds, we are able to learn from one another, as well as directly from scripture. Its a great place for laughs, fellowship, and contemplation. Come join us!

The group is open to anyone who wishes to sing, or play an instrument. Practices are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 directly after worship and are held at Memorial Chapel.

Also, UUMC has several musical options open to students. They are welcome to join the Aldersgate (church) Choir and the Handbell Choir, which play at the 11:00 am traditional service.
