6:00 Worship Revisted Sermon series-- “Mythbusters: Christian or Cliché?”We invite you to examine our religious rhetoric.  Do the words we say in times of difficulty help or hurt? Are they based in scripture? We will look at sayings like “Everything happens for a reason,” and “God never gives us more than we can handle,” in the light of scripture and faith tradition.  All are welcome!

Thursday, Feb. 2 7:00-8:00 Bible Study, Jimenez Hall (room: 1123).  We are beginning our new study: “Where is God Calling You?: Explore, Discover, Question?”
We will be sharing biblical and modern day stories of call and how they relate to our lives.  This week our guest leader will be seminarian Katie Wheat who will share about her call to serve as a US2 missionary through the United Methodist Church.  We will also be sharing info about a variety of post graduate service opportunities  for young adults.

Every year, the University United Methodist Church “opens our doors” to the men from Safe Haven, a local rotating men’s homeless shelter. This two-week long program is a great opportunity for volunteers to “open our hearts” and “open our minds” by serving our friends in many different ways, whether it’s cooking food, serving them dinner, or spending the night at the church. This past week, church volunteers stepped up to make the program a success, with several of these volunteers taking on extra shifts to stay with the men during the days they were snowed in. However, there is still one more week left in the program, and help is still needed.
